The chronicle

October in the forest

The hunt is on, perhaps with a C sharp

We'll take God's children for wild ducks

There'll be shooting all around

But with ducks without typos,

It will be all right

Pop-up on the 17th October in Montargis

Inspiration stories

Atelier 17, represented by Cécile, and I invite you to enter two creative worlds for one evening - that's what a pop-up is all about!

Some of you will remember my newsletter which featured this unique sweater. It was inspired by CĂ©cile when she came across one of my sculptures inspired by Pablo Picasso: ‘Tenter de comprendre Picasso XV’.

The sweatshirt will be launched on Thursday 17 October from 5pm!

The sweatshirt is designed in Cécile's boutique workshop in the heart of Montargis, in the famous fishery district. Only a few copies will be produced, as each one is unique.

Cécile will be presenting her collections of women's clothing, all with a delicate audacity that blends elegance and casualness.

Some of my sculptures will be set against a fashion backdrop.

Fanstatic animals

The unicorn

39 x 27 x 4 cm - 2024 - glazed stoneware

From the third millennium BC, figurines of animals with a single horn on the muzzle appeared in the Indus Valley, in modern-day Pakistan.

Referred to as a unicorn in early medieval writings, the unicorn took on a strong Christ-like symbolism.

The unicorn was always male until the 14th century, when its French name was feminised and became unicorne.

It symbolised the virtue of the lady.

In the 18th century, the reason for the unicorn had not yet been completely rejected from the sphere of science. It found refuge in the marvellous world of fiction, which was not yet called fantasy.

Ushumgal

"Ushumgal" - 29 x 39 x 7 cm - 2024 - glazed stoneware

‘Like a dragon, you cast your venom on the earth; when you roar to the earth, like thunder, no vegetation can withstand you. A flood descends from the mountain. O the first, you are the Inanna of heaven and earth!’ Inanna, the Sumerian goddess from the end of the third millennium BC...

The Sumerian gods were the creators of the world and of human beings.

They lived in lower Mesopotamia, in present-day Iraq.

From their social and cultural organisation we inherit the first drawn signs and an early form of language.

I might as well tell you that my mind has travelled a long way while working on this sculpture!

I hope it will invite you to let yourself go into an imaginary world full of stories.

There's nothing like it for clearing the mind..

Miroir

"Miroir" - 26 x 12 x 28 cm - 2024 - glazed stoneware

And if I were an animal, I would hide from monstrous men for fear of being mistreated by them.

I would haunt their dreams to the point of fascination.

And then I would live an innocent and unbridled sexuality.

I could also become an asterias, the Egyptian bird that understands human language and gets angry when insulted.

It's up to you to imagine the rest of the story...

Machin-chose

"Machin-chose" - 36 x 28 x 5 cm - 2024 - glazed stoneware

How can you tell?

The animal-man is an indefinable being.

He can be a genie fighting evil influences, or he can reign in hell in the world of the dead.

The world below, ruled by the god Nergal and the goddess Ereshkigal.
